Monday

Cheers for SafeChild (Oakwood Pizza Box, 610 North Person Street, Raleigh) - This wine and food event will benefit SAFEchild, which has been devoted to child abuse prevention for over 25 years. Enjoy hand-picked wines and off-menu food.

Flash Chorus (Motorco Music Hall, 723 Rigsbee Ave., Durham) - Gather at Motorco to learn and sing Hank Williams's classic "Hey Good Lookin'" and a mashup of the summer's biggest song - Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" with Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive." This event is family-friendly. Tickets are $10.

Tuesday

Bluegrass Ramble (Various venues in downtown Raleigh) - It's Bluegrass Week! The IBMA World of Bluegrass is happening all week in downtown Raleigh. Things kick off tonight with the Bluegrass Ramble, which features performances at various clubs in downtown Raleigh.
Dropkick Murphys (Red Hat Amphitheater, 500 S. McDowell St., Raleigh) - See the Celtic punk band perform.
Open Mic Extravaganza (Goodnights, 861 W. Morgan St., Raleigh) - See 20+ of the best local comedians Raleigh has to offer every Tuesday.
Bob Mould (Cat's Cradle, 300 E Main St., Carrboro) - The guitarist and vocalist wrote songs for alternative rock bands in the 1980s and the 1990s.

Wednesday

Rhiannon Giddens (NCMA, 2110 Blue Ridge Rd., Raleigh) - The prodigiously talented Rhiannon Giddens returns to the NCMA in a remarkable collaboration with acclaimed Italian pianist and percussionist Francesco Turrisi.

IBMA Ramble (Kings, 14 W. Martin St., Raleigh) - Leading up to the weekend's Wide Open Bluegrass Festival in downtown Raleigh, enjoy performances by Aaron Burdett, Henhouse Prowlers, The Dead South and more. Admission starts at $35. The show is suitable for all ages.
Moore Square Market (Moore Square Park, 200 South Blount Street, Raleigh) - There will be over 20 vendors along with entertainment, educational programming and special events between 4 and 7 p.m.
Pickin' in the Pines (Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Parkway, Cary) - See the Johnny Folsom 4 and Patsy Cline Tribute at 5:45 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults.

Thursday

International Bluegrass Music Awards (Raleigh Memorial Auditorium, 2 E. South St., Raleigh) - Bluegrass artists Del McCoury and Jim Lauderdale will host bluegrass music’s biggest night, where the music community acknowledges the year’s outstanding achievements and honors new Hall of Fame inductees.
The Wide Open Blue Grass Festival featuring Ricky Skaggs, Patty Loveless, and Leftover Salmon was hosted in downtown Raleigh N.C. on September 28 and 29th of 2018 (Chris Baird/WRAL Contributor).
Josh Ritter (Durham Arts Council, 120 Morris Street, Durham) - The musician is known for his distinctive Americana style and narrative lyrics.
Durham Night Market (The Wine Feed, 305 South Roxboro Street, Durham) - Over 40 local makers will be selling their handmade products between 5:30 and 10:30 p.m. There will be food trucks, live music, wine, beer and more.
The Motet: Speed of Light Tour (Cat's Cradle, 300 E Main St., Carrboro) - The septet from Denver is known for funk, swaggering soul, and thought-provoking pop music. Tickets are $20.

Friday

Art of Cool (Downtown Durham) - This Durham music festival features forward-thinking jazz, alternative and R&B music along with spoken word. Shows run Friday through Sunday around downtown Durham.

Wide Open Bluegrass (Downtown Raleigh) - Organizers call this the largest free urban bluegrass festival in the world. There will be eight free music stages across downtown Raleigh, including at Red Hat. The festival also features a dance tent, workshops and exhibit hall with instruments and gear in the Raleigh Convention Center, food vendors, a juried arts market area and more.
Oktoberfest Flights and Pretzels (Barley Labs, 4015 University Dr., Durham) - Get a free soft pretzel (while supplies last) with the purchase of an Oktoberfest flight. Dogs are welcome.
Lions, Tigers and Beer! (Conservators Center, 676 Hughes Mill Rd., Burlington) - Tour the animal park then sample food and beer pairings inspired by tigers, lions and jungle cats. Proceeds go to provide elderly animals with the supplements they need to remain comfortable.
