WE ARE STILL SEEING LOWER THAN NORMAL SENSES AS TALL AS TOTAL NUMBER OF PATIENTS, BUT, WE ARE FULL MOST OF THE DAY. WE HAD A REALLY SUPER BUSY AFTERNOON WITH LOTS AND LOTS OF ER PRESENTATIONS, MULTIPLE PRESENTATIONS, WE HAD QUITE A LOT OF CRITICAL CARE. AND SOME OF IT WAS POTENTIALLY RELATED TO COVID. A LOT OF IT WAS JUST NORMAL ER STUFF AND THE COVID COMPONENT WAS MAINLY JUST RULING IT OUT OR GOING DOWN THE LINE AND FIGURING OUT THAT WAS SOMETHING THAT WAS INDICATED FOR MORE TESTING. I AM STANDING NEXT TO OUR WONDERFUL RESPIRATORY THAT WE HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF USING FOR THE LAST SEVERAL WEEKS. WE'VE ACTUALLY BEEN ABLE TO PUT THAT ON HOLD AND MOVE THAT BACK INSIDE THE BUILDING BECAUSE THE NUMBERS ARE LOOKING BETTER FOR THOSE TYPES OF PRESENTATIONS AND THEN BEHIND ME, OUR NEW CONSTRUCTION. IN THE MIDDLE OF ALL THIS, THEY ARE CONTINUING TO BUILD A NEW INPATIENT PSYCHIATRIC FACILITY AND A PORTION OF IT IS GOING TO BE THE NEW ER WAITING AREA AND THE FRONT OF THE ER. AND THE INSIDE OF THE BUILDING, WE HAVE A WONDERFUL LOOKING NEW 13 ROOMS FOR CRITICAL CARE THAT ARE GOING TO BE OPEN. THEY ARE DOING A GOOD JOB GETTING THOSE ROOMS READY. I THINK THEY WILL BE READY TO USE THEM MUCH EARLIER THAN PROJECTED. SO, AGAIN, I JUST FEEL LIKE THE ENGINEERING AND LEADERSHIP HAS DONE A REALLY GOOD JOB OF HANDLING, I MEAN, WHAT IS A HUGE OPERATIONAL ORDEAL TO HANDLE ALL THE COVID ADJUSTMENTS AND BE READY FOR A SURGE THAT MAY STILL HAPPEN. I MEAN, WE ARE DEFINITELY NOT PUTTING DOWN OUR GUARD. WE ARE JUST TRYING TO BE THOUGHTFUL AND USE RESOURCES APPROPRIATELY. BUT, IN THE MIDDLE OF ALL OF THAT, THEY HAVE ALSO BEEN DOING MAJOR CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS. AND HELPING TO GET US RESOURCES WE NEED TO JUST BE A REGULAR OLD ER. SO, I THINK THIS WEEK, WE HAVE SEEN LIKE COVID PRESENTATIONS ARE CONTINUING. IT IS DEFINITELY STILL SOMETHING OUT THERE IN THE COMMUNITY AS. WE HAVE SOME PEOPLE THAT ARE COMING IN FOR COMPLICATIONS FROM KNOWN DIAGNOSES ALREADY, BUT, THE ER IS BEING QUITE ER LIKE. THIS AFTERNOON, THE LAST TWO HOURS -- WE ARE VERY USED TO IT BUT I'VE ALWAYS KIND OF THOUGHT ABOUT IT LIKE WHEN YOU ARE AT THE BEACH AND YOU GET IN THE WAVES A LITTLE BIT AND YOU GET KNOCKED OVER AND A WAVE HITS YOU AND BEFORE YOU CAN EVEN REALLY GET YOUR FEET UNDER YOU, THERE'S ANOTHER ONE AND ANOTHER ONE AND ANOTHER ONE. SO, WE ARE USED TO THAT, BUT, IT IS STILL REALLY CHALLENGING. BECAUSE WE JUST GOT A BUNCH OF REALLY SICK PEOPLE KIND OF ALL IN THE SAME HOUR, SO, WE HAVE TO MAKE PLANS AND FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO. BUT WE ARE GOOD AT IT. JUST TRYING TO GET USED TO IT AGAIN. I'm meteorologist, Kat Campbell in the wr a severe weather center, a turbulent week ahead with more storm threats on the horizon, severe weather threats, a level two risk Wednesday and Thursday because of that these days and nicer wr weather alert days. If we take a look at our cold front, it's still well to the west. But as it gets closer to us, we're going to have more forcing for storms to develop and a ripe atmosphere for those storms to intensify, damaging wind gusts and hail are the main concerns though an isolated tornado will be possible. Storms most likely Wednesday night overnight into early Thursday and there could be another chance later Thursday, depending on how that Wednesday night round evolved. So let's first talk about the Wednesday a few hit or miss storms possible pretty much anywhere during the afternoon, but the main, so look like it would come overnight. So we're talking past midnight, likely through very early Thursday morning, 234, 5 a.m. And then the second round approaches from the west and depending on how that first round goes, that's going to determine the strength and the timing of the second round. This model in particular has a moving through a bit early in the day. We'll watch to see if that trend holds. Keep checking in for updates as we get closer to Thursday for Wednesday. It's hot, high temperatures in the upper eighties to lower nineties just isolated storm chances during the day. But that chance, of course, going up later at night, if we look at how hot it's been this spring, it's pretty remarkable. It feels more like summer than spring and it is the warmest spring to date on record at RDU. Temperatures are running 4.7 degrees normal, almost five degrees above normal. We do have a cold front coming and some below normal temperatures briefly return at the forecast Friday, 78. Still some scattered storms around Saturday. We dry out to start the weekend, 75 of the high and near 80 on Mother's Day. Mother's Day is trending drier on Sunday with more sunshine. And you, I notice the cooler weather this weekend when you get to the nighttime hours early in the morning lows dip back in the fifties. A much drier, less humid air returns for the weekend. That should last until early next week. But we still have to get through the turbulent weather first. The worst of it comes Wednesday and Thursday, Friday still some scattered storms. But at this point, those are less likely to be severe.
