'SYTYCD' star teaches Cary dance students
A popular contestant on the Fox show "So You Think You Can Dance" came to teach students at a Cary ballet this weekend.
Posted — UpdatedDancer Alex Wong led a two-day Valentine's Day workshop for students at the Cary Ballet Conservatory.
"I am so excited to be coming to N.C. to teach and work with the dancers at CBC," Wong said before the workshop. Ballet mistress Deanna Seay "has told me how hard working and talented the students are. I look forward to seeing the talent in N.C."
Wong once danced with Seay in the Miami City Ballet. He recommended Seay to the Cary Ballet and urged her to take the position.
Wong wowed the judges and audience when auditioned for SYTYCD in 2009, but his contract with the Miami City Ballet prevented him from competing. He sailed through the auditions again last year but had to drop out due to an injury.
He is set to compete in the next season of SYTYCD, which starts this summer.
