NC Pig finds a mate at State Fair

When the State Fair folks chose "Love a Fair" as the theme of this year's festival, they weren't kidding.

Love bloomed at the waterfall outside Dorton Arena Tuesday morning when N.C. Pig, the fair's unofficial mascot, got down on bended knee to propose to his lady friend, Penny Pig.

N.C. presented Penny with a bouquet of corn ears and slipped an onion ring on her finger – actually, her thumb – and then the couple danced about and hugged onlookers to share their joy.

Word has it that they tried to find appropriate food at the fair for their reception, but they kept finding booths serving ham biscuits and sausage.
