What would Art Garfunkel read?

Posted July 14, 2008 8:04 a.m. EDT

I woke up at 4:15 this morning and immediately wondered, "What did Art Garfunkel read in July 1985?" Like many Americans, I find myself frequently wondering what Art read in decades past.

I stumbled sleepily to my computer and went to his Web site.  I got my answer: "The Guermantes Way" by Proust, Howard Greenfeld's "Caruso" and "Fire in the Lake" by Frances Fitzgerald.

Fortunately, I was able to get the work week off to the right start.
