Step Back in Time

Posted April 26, 2007 11:08 a.m. EDT

I'm off to Phoenix for a few days, so I wanted to leave a link you could enjoy through the weekend.

Don't tell the bosses, but I have to admit that I haven't watched prime time television in a long, long time.

So, let's hearken back to the good old days -- when most TV was black and white.  The Museum of Broadcast Communications has a fascinating opportunity for us TV nostalgiaists (I hope that's a word).  Their Net Nights project is wonderful.

The curators have selected different years from the golden era of television, then delved into their immense archives and put together a few hours of programming -- including commercials of the era and all the station identifications -- that are representative of the time.  It gives you a fascinating glimpse into what it was like to watch TV back then.  The site says it best:

Viewers will discover a much slower-paced television; one devoid of intrusive logos, graphics, and seemingly endless commercial breaks.

So, hook your computer up to the TV and step back in time.  See you next week!
