Rusty Wallace: King of the Road (Trip)

I had a fun interview this morning with NASCAR legend Rusty Wallace. He talked about those summer road trips -- from making sure your car is in good running order to making sure the kids are busy in the back seat.
I don't have any kids, but I know first-hand that traveling with them can be -- uh -- challenging. But so can traveling with adults, for that matter. As you approach the ninth hour sitting on your neck in the sedan, everything is a struggle.
I recently took a road trip to (wonderful) Nashville with some dear friends. It takes a mighty strong relationship to survive that much time in a car.
The road trip itself was not that bad -- there's plenty of entertaining kitsch to enjoy from the highway, and being a native of these parts, the mountains still wow me. But even as my ears popped painfully through the misery of a wretched cold, I'm really, really glad we chose to fly back.
