— An employee was accidentally shot Thursday morning at the State Crime Lab in Raleigh.

Authorities said the employee was conducting a forensic test in the lab's firearms section when the weapon accidentally discharged.

The employee was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

"All of us at the North Carolina Department of Justice are thinking of her at this time and hope for a speedy recovery," a spokeswoman said.
