HUDSON, N.C. — Eight people from Caldwell County were arrested on Wednesday after investigators said the group kidnapped a couple, blindfolded them and shot them multiple times.

One of the victims told officials that he and his girlfriend were at a friend's house when the group assaulted them, bound them and blindfolded them. The pair were taken to a second location, thrown on the ground and shot at, officials said.

The group dropped off the man at Caldwell Memorial Hospital after being shot twice, officials told WCNC. His girlfriend was able to flag down a driver who took her to a hospital.

The kidnapping and shooting took place on an abandoned property along Hood's Creek Road in Hudson.

All of the suspects were together on Joplin Road when deputies arrived.
