EF-2 tornado damages three Duplin County homes

An EF-2 tornado packing winds of about 115 mph caused heavy damage to three homes in rural Duplin County Monday afternoon, National Weather Service officials confirmed Tuesday.

ROSE HILL, N.C. — An EF-2 tornado packing winds of about 115 mph caused heavy damage to three homes in rural Duplin County Monday afternoon, National Weather Service officials confirmed Tuesday.

The tornado touched down on Pasture Branch Road in Greenevers at about 4:45 p.m., officials said, and it remained on the ground for about 350 yards.

Three buildings were heavily damaged or destroyed, and numerous cars in the path of the tornado were moved or flipped. One minor injury was reported.
