EASTOVER — Cumberland County sheriff’s detectives arrested an Eastover man on Wednesday and charged him with sex crimes involving a 14-year-old girl and with fathering her child.

Warren Edwards, 39, of 3104 Aglow Drive, told investigators the child could be his, but he was not sure because he was intoxicated at the time and did not remember having sexual relations with the girl, according to sheriff's officials.

He is charged with taking indecent liberties with a child and statutory sex offense, both felonies.

Edwards was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to make a first court appearance at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Detention Center courtroom.
