DURHAM, N.C. — The East Durham Bake Shop will be moving into American Tobacco Campus next month.
The bakery, the latest pop-up tenant at ATC, will be operating from Nov. 5-21 and have already begun taking orders for Thanksgiving.

“Durham, especially its small business owners and entrepreneurs, is filled with such enthusiastic and creative people who have always made us feel welcome, loved and supported,” co-owner Ali Rudel said. “We are proud to be a part of this community and to be able to provide a little slice of happiness this Thanksgiving.”

Rudel and Ben Filippo opened East Durham Bake Shop in 2015, as a small operation selling whole pies to order and hand pies to local cafes. The bakery opened a storefront this spring in Old East Durham, where they serve up everything from croissants, cookies and scones to sweet and savory pies.

“Pie carries deep family and cultural traditions, and therefore so many wonderful memories for a lot of people,” Rudel said. “We often hear people tell stories about their parents, relatives and those who have since passed away when we talk to them about pie. It’s a food that changes depending on what we have in abundance and brings people a specific happiness.”

The pop-up location will be serving handmade pies from its Thanksgiving menu, pastries, Carrboro Coffee Roasters coffee and organic tea. Guests can also preorder baked goods for Thanksgiving.

The East Durham Pie PopUp will be open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thanksgiving orders can be placed over the phone at 919-957-1090 during regular business hours or in person at either the Bake Shop or the Pop-Up.
