Earthquake shakes homes in Winston-Salem Sunday morning
People living in the southwest area of Winston-Salem report feeling their homes shake Sunday morning.
Posted — UpdatedWINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — People living in the southwest area of Winston-Salem report feeling their homes shake Sunday morning, WXII News reports.
The United States Geological Survey confirms a 2.4 magnitude earthquake in the Winston-Salem area around 8:58 a.m.
The location was near Old Salisbury Road and the Parlawn Memorial Cemetary.
A few hours earlier, USGS reported a 2.6 magnitude earthquake Sunday morning in Virginia.
According to the USGS, earthquakes are usually 2.5 magnitude or higher before they are felt.
