Earth Fare, the healthy grocery store in Brier Creek, has launched a kids eat free night as part of its new initiative to eliminate childhood obesity.
As part of the week-old program called Itty Bitty Bites, kids can eat for free from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Thursday during the store's Family Dinner Nights. Last week, with the purchase of an adult meal of at least $5, two kids could eat for free. But starting this week, six (as in the number 6) kids can eat for free with the purchase of one adult meal of at least $5.

The store also is offering some activities for kids. Tonight is family board night.

And while many restaurants that offer kids eat free nights don't offer kids the healthiest of meals, kids have lots of healthy options at Earth Fare, including sandwiches, fruit and milk, which are all part of the deal.

Next Thursday, the store will be rolling out its new kids menu, which will have sandwich or roll-up options; several sides such as carrots or a fruit kabob; snacks such as cheddar bunnies or blueberry yogurt; and milk or water to drink.

I'm adding it to our Kids Eat Free list.
