E-Mail, Phone Service Restored to Durham County Offices
Phone and e-mail service was restored to Durham County administrative offices Thursday afternoon, hours after the offices were knocked offline, officials said.
Posted — UpdatedThe outage, which affected the offices of the county manager, the county attorney, the Board of Commissioners and the county's public information office, was caused by a network switch hardware failure on the second floor of the county government building, officials said.
No other floor or users were affected by the outage.
A temporary unit with limited capacity was installed by the county IT department before noon Thursday until the replacement data switch was received from Verizon in the afternoon.
