NC State offensive lineman Dylan McMahon admits both the Wolfpack and Tar Heels don't like each other heading into this season's matchup.

What did you learn? What, what was your welcome to the NC State? UN C Robert? I mean, it's just, it's a, it's a big rival. It is what it is. It's no secret about it. It's the longest one on AC C and it definitely growing up in the home where Florida State, Florida with my brother, it's very similarity with North Carolina State and North Carolina. It's no secret that we don't like each other. And it's a, I mean, it's a game everybody looks forward to every year. What's uh schematically, what do you expect from Carolina? What, what sort of schemes? Uh, I mean, they're a great defense, they run, there's a four down defense most of the time they got big defense linemen, athletic guys with fast linebackers over the top, running around filling the holes and, and that's what we expect for, uh Saturday. And I mean, they're a great defense. It's gonna be a good challenge you guys out and all of a sudden, uh I think it's just, just getting into the rhythm of things. I think we changed up a few things a few weeks ago and we're finally keeping it the same for a little while. Like the first five weeks we're going back and forth with different guys, people getting injured myself, other people and being able to have the same offense line in there for three or four straight weeks. I think that really helps and just being able to gel it together and really everything's clicking like everyone knows what everyone's thinking. We don't have to like, say it everything be on the same page. We all know what everyone's gonna do at this point and it's in a good spot being a guy you might appreciate this. So, deters with the flag has been in the game. You guys ever do anything to motivate you guys in the room or anything? That is like a, I don't know if you need too much of a reminder of who's coming into your stadium. I mean, it's UN C we don't like them, they don't like us. And obviously I think we can use that as a reminder that they're gonna have, they're gonna have a ton of animosity coming into, coming into our stadium, what we did to the, their stadium last year and knowing that knowing how hard they're gonna play because of that, I mean, that's gotta be our fuel right there to not let them do the same thing to us. You know, statistics, a lot of teams have been able to run the ball against them in the last few weeks, you know, duke rack, racked up big numbers. Clemson racked up big numbers, you know, does that, uh, excites you a little bit because I'm sure all offensive linemen prefer run blocking over pass blocking. I mean, I wouldn't say it excites me a little bit, but, I mean, Clemson played a good game against those guys. They have a great defensive front and I mean, you can look at Clemson ran a lot on them, but you can also look at what they did to South Carolina in the beginning of the year where they shut them down to nothing at all there. They're a great defense and it doesn't change the fact that they got ru rushed on last week to what they're gonna do this week. We still got to prepare like their top rush defense in the country, which they can be easily. And that's what we gotta look forward to.

McMahon: We want to make sure UNC doesn't plant a flag on our field

Yeah, third point where you're looking forward to that third and short, fourth and chart just so the they can finish off of, you know, finish off the job. I mean, yeah, obviously you always wanna like when 3rd, 3rd, short or go on forth and short, you want to be put on our backs because that means if you're going for on fourth and one, they don't trust us and we can show them what we, what we can do a little frustration at times last year. I mean, yeah, obviously we were, uh, we were terrible at fourth and one short yard. I mean, I'm not gonna lie. So, I mean, this coming back this year, I mean, it's really a point to prove that that wasn't us last year. We were just, it was a bad year for us and turn it around this year, I think earlier this year, he talked about how this is the first season. I love it. It's fun. I mean, Gibby have big shoes to fill Gibby and he showed me the way on how to play center. I always had to step in for him then, but being able just to focus on center and really, like, get together with Coach Two J because the center is kind of like, meet more with the coaches because we got to, we got to run the offense of the offensive line and being able to do that. And just, I mean, focusing on my, and my steps, just the center has been great. They're a really good defense. I mean, they return 10 starters and I think the defensive line is the strength of their defense. And Jim Mora, the head coach there is a big defensive guy and I mean, they're way better than when we played them last year. You could see that in the season. They finished off the season in five of the last six. So it's, it's going to be a good battle, especially up front who the guard. I mean, I mean, I haven't, I mean, I've been there that needed questions but I mean, we, they're experienced guys like ac and coop and they all, they all been in games played games and they have them knowing, like knowing the scheme and stuff like that. It's all a learning curve for all of us because it's a new stuff. But we've all had meetings together if any guys have questions. I mean, I'm there to answer. Ok, that was awesome. That's my boy, me and him have lived together for the past two years now. So we had a lot to see that. He really he really earned that and see what he's done coming in at like £230. And now being in 300 room with the two deep man, he earned every bit of that. It was, it was great to see. All right, thank you. Thank you.

McMahon: I love playing center it's fun

NC State offensive lineman Dylan McMahon embraces the opportunity of playing a power conference opponent like Texas Tech at home in prime time.

I mean it was cool, but I mean I would give credit to the strength staff and stuff. This is my 2nd 2nd year being on it and I mean I give credit to all the guys around me that pushed me push me harder to be on there. I mean we got tons of free, tons of freaks in the weight room. So I really think it should have been more guys on there than just me and Peyton makes you freaky. I mean I'm faster offense lineman, I'm really athletic and I might not be the biggest lineman, but I can still push around a good bit of weight. You have some bragging rights over your older brother in terms of weight room number, I think so he might say different, but I think I can, I can handle him in the weight room and what he was doing back in his day to maintain the ball to keep keep your defense, give them a little bit of rest knowing what they face over there. It's always, I mean, always wanted, we always wanna keep be on the field, but I mean it's really important for us to keep the ball one. We can't turn it over to, we just, we want to keep the ball, we wanna score. We know the defense is going to get out there and they're gonna do their job and we just have to play complimentary football all three phases, working together in the game and that's that's the main importance in this game. But is it even more important against a team that likes to run a bunch of plays. Oh yeah, we know we know the defense is definitely important, but I mean we're gonna play our game, how we play our game and the defense is gonna play theirs and their their big thing is not let them get first down so they don't have to be play 100 plays and we're gonna go out there and do what we do is just the type of game. It's definitely awesome like being in the carter feeling for a seven o'clock game. I mean this year it's we're looking at, we're playing texas tech but really we're playing us this year, we're not we're not crazy about this is the biggest game. They're all big games, they're all they're all working towards our goal. How much pride you take in the fact that you guys haven't given up the first couple of games and what has it taken to pull that off? Alright. We I mean that's that's our job. We can't let nobody touch leary. We take it personal, someone touched because that's who we're protecting and I mean really this offseason we we took so much pride in working on our past pro, we've been in this indoor like like every weekend we're working on it for like an hour, every weekend to two times a week and I think that's really what helped us out this past two games. I mean, I guess the Jersey came out of him a little bit. That was that was awesome to see him do that. It was like playing center. It's awesome. I love, I like playing center a lot. It was, it was good to get out there and get some live snaps in there. I played at a practice a few times spring spring ball last year, spring game. But it was, it was nice to get out there and play against an actual opponent. Uh, they're lying, they're, they're good, they're good line there, quick twitch. They got tall, lengthy guys. They're, I mean they're gonna, they're gonna be a challenge in all phases and it's gonna, it's gonna be a good battle.

McMahon: It's awesome playing in a 7 p.m. game

Yeah, I can hear you. How's it going? Do you guys want to raise your hands, will go around for Dylan? Uh Andrew Schnittker, Go ahead please. Mhm Dylan, how much fun is it blocking out there for Ricky and bam when they're running the way that they were against south florida. Oh, it make it's fun and it makes it makes your job easier. You just gotta, it makes your job well, you just gotta, you almost just got to get in the way of the guy and they're always gonna make you right, they're gonna cut off your block and they're gonna make you right, So it makes our job a lot easier and it makes it really fun alec. Go ahead. Yeah, Dylan Coach Doran said yesterday that, you know, you guys were gonna really have to prepare for crowd noise for kind of the first time in a couple of years. Just how excited are you guys to get the opportunity to go playing that sec environment? But then also how are you guys kind of preparing to deal with that noise level? We're really excited, you know, Covid last year, there's no fans were just blessed to go somewhere, even, even if it is a hostile territory just to have fans, they're booing you or whatever they're going to be doing. And uh preparing wise, we were in the end of today blasting the blasting the speakers with crowd noise. And coaches were walking around with their cow bells and banging it in our ears all day long, Mike Tober? Hey, Dylan? Um kind of similar to the first question, but I wanted to ask you um you know, there's been a lot of talk about the offensive weapons that you guys have this year, how much pride do you take along the old line, being able to create that space and and let guys like Ricky and Jordan and band kind of do their thing. I mean it's huge. I mean that's our job for them. We want if they're getting praised in the newspaper and everything and they're getting praised for how good they're doing, we're doing our job and that's that's what we're up there to do and all across the board. We just we love paving the ways to get those guys in the end zone, score touchdowns. David Thompson, you know, I'm just curious. One of the new guys on your line, Chandler Savalas, his first Division one Action. Can you just talk about the way you felt? He played? Oh, I think I think he's awesome, he's a great, he's a great asset to our team coming in and starting off the bat. He he's a big dude, he gets up there and he throws people around and he's coming in and fit in great with everybody, everybody loves them. And he hasn't, he hasn't, he hasn't missed a beat, come in there and starting for us. Go ahead Todd Gibson. Yeah, Dylan, you guys get tired of hearing about this sec talk all the time because everybody everywhere you go to S. C. C. S. You guys tired of that. It's annoying we want to go in there and shut him up. We don't want to just go in there and beat them. We want to go in there and prove a point to them. It's annoying here. Everything about this is so we want to go in there and shut them up. What do you guys have to do right to to make that happen on saturday? We just have to be disciplined. You know going into a hostile territory. Just have to play disciplinary penalty three and just be gotta sound and listen to what the coaches are telling us to do and we should be all right. Do you like games like this? I mean big atmospheres. Big time games is I guess it's better than playing a home game against Ellen or something like that? I mean this this is kind of what you guys come to school for isn't it? Yeah for sure. There's no better feeling than going into a hostile territory and just hearing the roar of the crowd and then a few plays in this is dead silent because you're because you're beating them and there's no better crowd construction. No better feeling instructing the crowd. What can we do for you guys against an sec opponent? How will that set your season going forward? Can you say that one more time. What would a win against on saturday? How would that set your season going forward from there? Just just from the confidence stand point of view? I mean, I mean it'll be good to win the game, but I mean it's just another bump in the road where, I mean, this week we want to know, we don't even think about what we did last week. So this this this game, just another bump in the road when we get in there and win the game will move on to the next one. Go ahead Jonas. Hey there, little Coach Dorin talked about when you look at Mississippi state's right, uh, the defensive front on film. A bunch of big strong guys, What have you seen from watching the film and as an offensive lineman, how much you licking your chops? Looking forward to the challenge of valuing uh in the trenches? Oh, it's gonna be awesome. Yeah, when you watch the film, there are a bunch of big, you're big fast, strong sec guys that will go in there, they'll do a lot of movement, try to jumble up the front and it's gonna be a lot of fun just going in there and just getting ready to play a bigger, bigger front or faster front. Go ahead, joe. Hey, Dylan just kind of want to know obviously it's a new week, but like how do you kind of regroup and keep that same mentality as last week, but at the same time put your focus more so towards Mississippi and kind of passive what you guys did last week. Right, right. Well you, we just want, we just gotta, when we just got to watch the film, which we already have and put the game to bed and then just look back on, remember how we practice the week leading up to south florida and make sure we imitate the exact same, the exact same way and uh really fix the little details that we need to fix that we're in the south florida game and continue to carry it over to the next game and the next and David Thompson. Mhm. You know, I'm just curious. Obviously, you know, it's all of our jobs to overreact after what happens in week one. But when you watch teams like Clemson lose, you watch you and see lose. Does does it make you feel like the A CCS even more wide open and you guys have an even more realistic chance of winning A CC title? I mean obviously you see them blues, but I mean we can't believe and focus on that right now because if we don't, if we don't take care of Mississippi state saturday, it doesn't even matter. So we need to just be looking forward and what's going to happen on saturday rather than seeing what's going to happen later on in the season. Go ahead Jonas. I'm just curious. I know you guys got the schedule the first game of south florida and you guys were locked in on south florida. But now that games out the way you can, can, you kinda admit, you guys look at Mississippi state in week two and kind of circle that game on the calendar knowing or got a little extra excited knowing because you know, we're going to a sec night game is gonna be a big opportunity for us. I mean, yes, definitely. It's definitely exciting seeing the S. E. C. S team on the schedule. Like he was saying earlier, you get all the hype about sec team. A sec teams always want to come in there and showing us up and shut up all the noise that all the sec teams get all the time, a perfect ending to it right there.
