Durham woman pleads for information after cat shot 15 times with BB gun
Residents of a Durham neighborhood are pleading for answers to find out who shot a woman's cat 15 times with a BB gun.
Posted — UpdatedAndrea Tanody rescued her cat, Monsieur, four years ago. The cat spends time inside and outside, but on Wednesday, Tanody said he disappeared from their Walden Pond neighborhood.
On Friday, she got a call from a vet that someone had found him on American Drive, about a half mile from home.
"He's like family. He's my baby," she said.
Tanody said he had indentations all over his face from the BBs.
"When we brought him home on Saturday, he was banging his head into the furniture and everything. So, obviously he couldn't see anything," she said.
With the help of the neighbors, she made fliers to post around Durham. Tanody is now offering a $700 reward for information.
"This is cruelty beyond imagination. I just want justice for the cat," she said.
Monsieur is loved by neighbors, like Ryan Virgil. He made the fliers and posted information on Craigslist.
"The reality is, if someone could do this to this pet, they could do it to anybody's pet," Virgil said.
Tanody wants those responsible to be caught and punished.
"That's why you want to have pets, right? To love them and take care of them and make sure they have everything and are happy," she said.
