Durham woman asks for help finding missing father

— Durham police are trying to find a man and a woman who have been missing for almost a week.

Tierra Essence Mann, 35, and Carl Lynnberg Adams, 70, were last seen on Dec. 19 on Sprucewood Drive. Police say the pair could be in a gray 2015 Toyota 4Runner, but they haven't released any information about the circumstances surrounding their disappearance.

Adams' family said Monday that they don't believe the loyal father, grandfather and Vietnam veteran would go off voluntarily. He has diabetes and high blood pressure, but his medicine was left behind. Also, he was helping look after his ill mother, they said.

"I just feel like he is being made to do something that is not of his nature," said daughter April Adams.

April Adams said the family knew something was wrong last Wednesday when he wasn't home to help children get to the bus stop.

"I was like, 'OK, y'all are saying he's missing, but I'm going to try to call him because my daddy always answers the phone when I call him,'" she said. "He didn't have his phone on, and that's not like him."

Mann's sister, Shadeya Mann-Mayo, said it's also out of character for her to leave without saying something.

Mann is described as black, 5 feet 3 inches tall and 100 pounds. She has short, straight black hair, brown eyes, a tattoo on her left arm and a scar on her forehead.

Adams is described as black, 5 feet 7 inches and 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing an olive green jacket, blue jeans and a fishing hat.

They have an 11-year-old child, relatives said.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mann or Adams is asked to call Durham police Cpl. M. Richards at 919-560-4440, extension 29320, or the Durham Police Department’s main desk at 919-560-4427.
