DURHAM, N.C. — A portion of Hope Valley Road and nearby streets reopened in time for the morning commute after damage to a gas line prompted the closure on Wednesday.

Durham police said damage to a gas line was reported in the 4500 block of Hope Valley Road after 1 p.m.

Officials closed that stretch of Hope Valley Road at Woodcroft Parkway and at South Roxboro Street and Shady Creek Drive.

Police did not immediately say how the gas line was damaged or how long the road closures would last. Drivers in the area were warned to avoid the area while work was underway to repair the damaged line.

No injuries have been publicly disclosed.
