DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham neighborhood south of downtown woke up to police blocking the street this morning.

Just after 3 a.m., officers rushed to the corner of Nelson Street near Chautauqua Avenue, blocking off a sizable segment of the street with police tape.

Witnesses said a woman was stabbed by another woman overnight after a fight broke out.

They said their friend was injured, then taken to a hospital for treatment. They did not report life-threatening injury.

Multiple police squad cars were on the scene, and forensics arrived to investigate. Police seemed to be centering their attention on a couple of markings in the road.

WRAL is still working to learn what led up to this fight and whether or not police have a suspect in custody.
