Durham rape suspect surrenders to police
A Durham man accused of sexually assaulting a child surrendered to police Thursday.

DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham man accused of sexually assaulting a child surrendered to police Thursday.
Police said that Avis Deshon Trueluck, 34, was placed in the Durham County jail under a $1 million bond.
Trueluck faces charges of first-degree rape, first-degree sexual offense with a child and taking indecent liberties with a child. Police did not comment on the circumstances that led to the charges.
Trueluck was convicted of misdemeanor assault on a female in 2002, according to state Department of Correction records.
