Durham police seek ID of theft suspect

Durham police are asking for help in identifying a man they say stole a purse from a car then used the credit cards inside to make purchases.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are asking for help in identifying a man they say stole a purse from a car then went shopping with the credit cards inside.

Police released three surveillance images showing a light-skinned black man, about 6 feet tall and weighing about 210 pounds, in a blue, sleeveless shirt, black shorts and sunglasses.

They said the man used credit cards from a purse taken from a car July 25 while it was parked in the 200 block of N.C. Highway 54.

Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect is asked to call the Durham Police Department. at 919-560-4583, extension 29356, or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.
