DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police on Thursday released video from a parking deck surveillance camera of a vehicle that may have a connection to the shooting of a security guard there.

Jay Aaron Foust, 46, of Durham, worked for Allied Universal, which had been hired by the city and assigned to patrol a City of Durham parking deck. He had only been in the job for two months before he was killed.

Foust, who was unarmed, was fatally shot Tuesday during the overnight hours. He was found in an alley in the 400 block of North Mangum Street, near East Chapel Hill Street, around 3 a.m., police said. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Clothes and a hat that said "security" were found at the scene.

Investigators are interested in talking to anyone who can recognize the vehicle in the video. It is a single-cab pickup truck with a long bed and tinted windows.

A DPD spokeswoman pointed to stickers on the back window of the cab as possibly identifying marks. The truck can be heard in the video making a distictive whining noise.

According to police, "The top of the truck has faded paint and the power steering pump whines very loudly. It was last seen with an orange traffic cone and several bags in the bed."
