Durham police searching for person who broke into occupied homes, stole cash

Durham police are looking for the person or people responsible for a string of burglaries over the past month.
Authorities said burglaries have been reported at occupied homes in the 100 block of Forestwood Drive, the 3500 block of Chapel Hill Road, the 1300 block of Shepherd Street and the 2600 block of University Drive.
In three of the incidents, residents were alerted to the burglaries by a dog inside the home, police said.
Authorities said cash and other small items were taken during the burglaries, but no injuries were reported.
Police are working to determine if all of the cases are related.
