Durham police searching for man charged with assault

Durham police are trying to locate a man who has been charged in connection with the shooting of a man during an argument Saturday afternoon.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are trying to locate a man who has been charged in connection with the shooting of a man during an argument Saturday afternoon.

Salustio Olmeda Reyes, 28, of Liberty Street, is charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, police said.

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call in the 800 block of Eva Street at 12:37 p.m. on Saturday. When they arrived, they said they found a 36-year-old male who had been shot during an argument with another male in the 700 block of Liberty Street.

The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to Duke University Hospital where he is in stable condition.

Investigators said that Reyes and the victim know each other.
