Durham police are searching for a suspect they say shot at an officer during a foot chase Saturday night. 

<b>DURHAM, N.C.</b> — Durham police are searching for a suspect they say shot at an officer during a foot chase Saturday night.

According to police, officers investigating an incident on Sima Avenue at about 11:35 p.m. overheard the suspect discussing criminal activity. When questioned, the suspect ran and fired at officers, police said.

The officer returned fire, but no one was injured. No one was taken into custody.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.

The SHP said the front passenger in the Jeep, 24-year-old Kortney Atkins, of Goldsboro, died while being transported to WakeMed. After the crash, the driver of the BMW jumped from the car and ran on foot. Johnston County Sheriff's deputies, including a K-9 unit, searched for the suspect but were unable to locate the person.
