Durham police probe shooting near library

Durham police are investigating a Tuesday night shooting that happened at the intersection of Queen Street and Liberty Street, near a library.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are investigating a Tuesday night shooting that happened at the intersection of Queen Street and Liberty Street, near a library.

Officers said they found a man lying on the floor inside the library at 300 North Roxboro St. at 8:20 p.m.

The man had been shot in the back, police said. The victim, whose name was not released, was transported to Duke University Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Police said the victim was shot at Queen and Liberty streets and ran inside the library for help.
