Durham police looking into fatal assault after man beaten at home

Durham police are investigating a fatal assault in which a 61-year-old man appeared to be beaten at his home.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are investigating a fatal assault in which a 61-year-old man appeared to be beaten at his home.

Frankie Delano Washington was found badly injured on the morning of April 5 at a home in the 1100 block of Moreland Avenue.

Officers learned three men with guns entered the home during an invasion the previous night. Washington was assaulted when he came home and died at the hospital from his injuries on April 15.

Police said the assault doesn't appear to have been random. No charges have been filed.
