DURHAM, N.C. — The Durham Police Department shared surveillance photos Tuesday of recent robberies, hoping someone will recognize the perpetrator in the images.

According to police, multiple robberies have occurred recently in and around Durham's Braggtown community, located along North Roxboro Street, not far from Duke Regional Hospital.

Witnesses described the man in the photo as being in his 20s or 30s. He stands between 5 feet 8 inches tall and 6 feet tall, weighs between 180 and 190 pounds and was wearing a black mask and a blue or black hoodie at the time of most robberies.

Durham police said there have been seven incidents between April 18 and April 30.

Witnesses told police that the man in the photos approached them with a gun and demanded money. In one incident, a woman was assaulted for removing a bicycle from the roadway that officials believe belonged to the man.

Since most of the victims were Hispanic, the Durham Police Department's Hispanic liaison officer is reaching out to that community. Durham police also shared two lists of safety tips for residents -- in English and Spanish.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Investigator J. Berkstresser at 919-560-4440 Ext 29538 or contact Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Callers never have to identify themselves, and Crime Stoppers has operators who speak Spanish.
