Durham police investigating string of armed robberies Friday night they say are connected

Police believe all the robberies are connected, and say that two Black males are targeting Hispanics in the area.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are looking into multiple armed robberies and assaults on Friday night that they believe are connected.

Police provided a timeline of the robberies, which all occurred less than an hour apart and targeted Hispanic victims.

  • At 8:49 p.m. in the 1300 block of Morreene Road - One man was approached by two Black male suspects, wearing all black in their mid-20s, one armed with a gun who robbed the victim.
  • At 9:10 p.m. in the 2900 block of Chapel Hill Road - Two men were standing in the area when two male suspects following the same description, pointed a gun at the victims and robbed them of cash.
  • At 9:22 p.m. in the 4200 block of Garrett Road. Two people, one a Hispanic woman, was standing outside when two armed suspects demanded money. When she told them she didn’t have any to give, they hit her with the gun and then they approached a Hispanic teen boy and hit him in the head, taking items.

Suspects are in their early 20s and dressed in all black.

Police said that two males were responsible. The robberies are all under investigation.
