Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened at a Durham apartment late Saturday night.

<b>DURHAM, N.C.</b> — Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened at a Durham apartment late Saturday night.

Investigators say Jeffery Lamar Dawes, 21, of Durham, was taken just after 10 p.m. from Apt. 9, at 561 Liberty St., to Duke University Hospital, where he later died.

The case is being investigated as a homicide, authorities said, but they did not release any other information about the crime.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers never have to identify themselves.
