Durham police investigate home invasion

Riley Dehart, 80, of 3632 Cheek Road, was home alone with the door unlocked when a man pushed his way in and robbed him at gunpoint.

DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham man was robbed and injured Monday afternoon in a crime the sheriff's office says was a home invasion.

Riley Dehart, 80, of 3632 Cheek Road, was home alone with the door unlocked when a man pushed his way in and robbed him at gunpoint. Dehart had a minor injury to his head, according to the Durham County Sheriff's Office.

Witnesses described the man as about 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds with dark, medium-length hair. He left the scene in an older-model gray SUV or pick-up truck.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call 919-560-0857. A cash reward is being offered.
