Durham police called a shooting death that happened Friday evening an apparent homicide.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police called a shooting death that happened Friday evening an apparent homicide.

Police received calls about a shooting near the intersection of Southgate and North Driver streets around 8:45 p.m. Officers found an adult male who appeared to have been shot lying on the ground.

Derrick Burch, 44, of 2017 Spring Lake Drive, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not released any more details about the shooting.
