Durham police ID man killed in hit-and-run

Durham, N.C. — Durham police on Wednesday identified the man killed in a hit-and-run crash early Monday morning on North Duke Street.
Authorities said Salvador Omar Sanchez, 44, of Chalk Level Road, was driving home from work when he experienced problems with his vehicle and parked it in a nearby parking lot.
He was walking home around 2:40 a.m. when he was struck by a vehicle as he was walking across North Duke Street, between Horton Road and Fairfield Road.
He died at the scene.
Investigators believe the vehicle may be a black or very dark 2008 to 2012 Honda Accord or similar vehicle.
The vehicle, which can be seen in surveillance video, appears to have tinted windows on the rear sides and back. It also likely has damage to its front bumper.
