DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police have linked three men to two recent shooting incidents at Streets at Southpoint mall, although none of the three are in custody. More people might face charges as the investigations into the incidents continue.

A Virginia man faces a charge of carrying a concealed gun in connection to the shooting that prompted chaos at the mall on Black Friday. Jaquaay Walton, 31, had not been arrested.

Police said Walton is not the man pictured in surveillance images circulated from the mall that day. Investigators are still trying to identify that man.

Durham police are trying to identify this man, who they believe was involved in a Nov. 26, 2021, shooting at the Streets at Southpoint mall that left three people wounded.
Police have said three men arranged for a jewelry sale at the mall on the busiest shopping day of the year. At some point, the sale went wrong, and the men exchanged fire inside the mall.
Three people were injured in that shooting, including one of the suspected robbers, a 26-year-old man. Three other people were hurt during the ensuing chaos, as shoppers fled the crowded mall or looked for safety.
About three weeks later, on Dec. 19, there was a shooting in the mall parking lot.

Investigators charged Isaiah Hargro-Burnette, 20, of Greensboro, with going armed to the terror of the public and carrying a concealed gun in that incident.

Police are still looking for another man linked to that shooting. A surveillance image distributed by police shows him to be Black, wearing light blue jeans, black Air Jordan sneakers and a black hoodie. Police say he may also drive a white Jeep.

Anyone with information on Hargro-Burnette’s whereabouts or information on the man in the photo is asked to call Durham police at 919-560-4440, ext. 29414 or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.

Three others – Elijah Sauls, 20, Messiah Whitten, 19, and a juvenile – were charged in connection to a fight in the food court at the mall on Dec. 8. Police have said two groups of people were invovled in a "physical confrontation" on that day, and at least one person pulled a gun.
