Elaine O'Neal to run for mayor of Durham

The Bull City has its first candidate for the 2021 mayoral race.

DURHAM, N.C. — The Bull City has its first official candidate for the 2021 mayoral race.

Retired judge Elaine O’Neal announced she is running for mayor of Durham in this year’s election. Born and raised in Durham, O'Neal served as a judge in the district and superior courts from 1994 to 2018 and most recently served as interim dean of NC Central University’s Law School.

Primary Day is Oct. 5 and Election Day is Nov. 2nd.
