Durham Man Sought on Assault Charges

— Durham police need your help to find a man wanted on assault charges stemming from an incident on May 27.

Police said Taurus Chevon Russell, 31, of Zelko Court, assaulted his ex-girlfriend by biting, hitting and attempting to choke her. According to police, the woman was able to escape, but claims Russell later returned to her Garrett Road apartment and kicked in the door.

A child was inside the apartment when the accident occurred, according to investigators.

Russell faces a number of charges, including attempted second-degree sex offense, second-degree kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon with a minor present, assault on a female and injury to personal property.
