DURHAM, N.C. — When you're right, you're right.

David Hosmer regularly told his wife he was going to win the lottery one day. At 68, his prediction finally came true. So when he got a $100,000 prize from a $20 Ultimate 7 ticket, there was a nice 'I-told-ya-so' at stake in addition to a nice payday.

“I told her I was going to win one day and my day finally came,” said Hosmer, who installed ceilings before his retirement.

Hosmer bought the ticket from the Food Lion on Sherron Road in Durham.

“My hands were shaking,” Hosmer said. “Then a smile came across my face and I started grinning ear to ear. I called my wife and she started screaming.”

After taxes, he took home $70,756.

The wife will benefit from the winnings, too. Hosmer said he plans to help pay off her SUV and then they'll take a trip to Hawaii.
