DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham man called 911 early Tuesday to report his own shooting. In the recording of the call, the man can be heard gasping for breath, but he tells the operator that his bleeding is not serious.

Police said Caron Allen, 18, of Wadesboro Street, and Jeremy Turner, 19, of Gerard Street, were shot at about 12:20 a.m. outside the Lynnhaven Apartments complex on Wadesboro Street. One man died at the scene and the other died at the hospital, police said.

It is not clear which man called 911.

Police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said the men knew each other, and the shootings were not random.
