Durham man killed after gunfire reported in Greensboro sports bar

A Durham man was killed after someone started shooting early Saturday inside a Greensboro sports bar, authorities said.

Jaylan Irvin Lassiter, 22, and another victim sought treatment at a local hospital after gunfire was reported at Lucky 7 Sports Bar about 12:30 a.m., investigators said in a written statement.

Police were called to the sports bar, located at 3407 West Gate City Blvd., after receiving reports of shots fired. When they arrived, they discovered evidence of gunfire but the victims had been taken to a local hospital in a personal car.

Police said Lassiter died at the hospital but the second victim was treated and released.

Investigators have not yet publicly said what prompted the shooting or if the victims knew their attacker.

A motive for the shooting was also not known.
