<b>DURHAM, N.C.</b> — A Durham grand jury on Tuesday indicted Alton Dewayne “Popeye” Sanders for an October murder.

Sanders is charged with murder in the shooting death of Lamont Monty Brandon Jr., 19.

Sanders is already in custody. He turned himself in to face charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling and discharging a firearm within the city limits for an August drive-by shooting on Hoover Road.
