Durham man dies in dirt bike wreck

Tyrone Jenkins, 35, was riding bikes with his son on N.C. Highway 33 in Pitt County Thursday morning when he hit a ditch and crashed.

GREENVILLE, N.C. — A Durham barber died on Thanksgiving Day as a result of a wreck on a dirt bike, according to state troopers.

Tyrone Jenkins, 35, was riding bikes with his son on N.C. Highway 33 in Pitt County Thursday morning when he hit a ditch and crashed. Jenkins, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from his bike and died. His son, following on a separate bike, was unhurt.

WNCT-TV in Greenville reported that Jenkins worked at D & M Barber Shop in Durham.
