Durham man dies after weekend shooting

A man shot in Durham on Sunday has died, police said Tuesday.

DURHAM, N.C. — A man shot in Durham on Sunday has died, police said Tuesday.

Police responding to a reported shooting near the intersection of Holloway Street and Hardee Street at about 12:45 p.m. found Bryant Bennett, 52, lying beside a vehicle.

Bryant was taken to a local hospital, where he died.

According to a preliminary investigation, it appears that Bennett was shot inside the vehicle, and police said the incident doesn't appear to have been random.

No charges had been filed as of Tuesday afternoon.
