DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham man was arrested Thursday in connection with two shootings in recent weeks that left two people wounded, police said.

Dunston is charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and was being held in the Durham County jail under $50,000 bond.

A 17-year-old woman was shot in the leg on Sept. 8 in the 3600 block of Wiggins Street. She and Dunston are acquaintances, according to investigators.

Six days later, officers were dispatched to a shooting in the 1100 block of South Hoover Road and found a 22-year-old man who had been shot.

Police said the man and another person were standing outside an apartment complex when an unfamiliar vehicle approached. Someone got out of the vehicle, shot the man in his upper body and fled, police said.

The was taken to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. His condition was unknown Friday.
