Durham man charged in 11 rooftop burglaries
James Edward Johnson, 49, of Liberty Street, is charged with 33 felonies, including multiple counts of breaking and entering, larceny and damage to property, Durham police said Friday.

Johnson is accused in the following burglaries:
- July 29 – Discount Mart, 3011 Fayetteville St.
- August 2 – Buy Quick, 103 West Cornwallis Road
- August 3 – New Visions of Africa Restaurant, 1306 Fayetteville St.
- August 6 – Wang’s Garden, 820 Fayetteville St.
- August 7 – Business/restaurant, 2504 Fayetteville St.
- August 7 – Roy’s Kountry Kitchen, 2514 Fayetteville St.
- August 8 – Buy Quick, 1603 South Alston Ave.
- August 13 - Buy Quick, 1603 South Alston Ave.
- August 14 – I Clean Cleaners, 3700 Fayetteville St.
- September 1 – Buy Quick, 103 West Cornwallis Road
- September 1 – Roy’s Kountry Kitchen, 2514 Fayetteville St.
Johns was arrested Thursday around 11:30 p.m. in a parking lot in the 400 block of Liberty Street, police said. He was being held under a $50,000 bond in the Durham County jail on Friday.
Police said Johnson might face additional charges in other cases.
