Durham man accused of beating baby
A Durham man is accused of severely beating his girlfriend's 1-year-old daughter at a home at 1818 Majestic Drive.

Joshua Ray Royster, 24, hit the child until she was unconscious June 27 at a home at 1818 Majestic Drive, according to the arrest warrant.
The child suffered severe head trauma and had bruises on her face and body, the warrant stated. She was listed in critical condition Sunday at Duke University Hospital.
The child's mother said her boyfriend had previously always taken good care of her baby.
Royster was arrested Sunday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, assault of a child and inflicting serious bodily injury.
He was being held at the Durham County Jail under a $5 million bond. His first court appearance was set for Monday morning.
