Durham fugitive arrested in Florida

A Durham man wanted in connection with a shooting last month has been arrested in Florida.

DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham man wanted in connection with a shooting last month was arrested Friday in Florida.

Durham police said Terrell Antwaun Barnes, 22, of Sedgefield Street, was taken into custody at a residence in Orlando by members of the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Orange County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit.

Barnes is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling and discharging a firearm within city limits.

Officers responded to an emergency call about a shooting in the 1200 block of Truman Street about 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 12. They arrived to find a 29-year-old man who had been shot during an argument. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
