DURHAM, N.C. — This holiday season, Durham children will have a little extra something to smile about thanks to the Durham Fire Department.

The Toys-4-Rides Campaign gives free rides on fire engines in exchange for new, unwrapped toys.

The toys will be distributed to children in need throughout Durham County during the month of December.

Toys-4-Rides is held in conjunction with the U.S. Marine's Toys-4-Tots Program.

Folks are asked to bring new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages on Dec. 15 and 16, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to Fire Station #2, at 1001 Ninth St.

People unable to attend the Toys-4-Rides event, can still drop off a toy at any Durham fire station until Dec. 23.
