DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham County deputy was injured after his car collided with a vehicle driven by a fleeing suspect Thursday evening.

The Durham County Sheriff’s Office said deputies attempted to stop a Silver Dodge Charger with three men inside at about 7:40 p.m. near Freeman Road and Clayton Road.

The driver fled, ran a stop sign on Adams Street and collided with a Durham County sheriff’s car on Holloway Street, deputies said. The impact caused the deputy’s vehicle to then hit a van, authorities said.

The deputy was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later released.

The driver of the Dodge Charger, Montes Miller, 19, was charged with fleeing to elude arrest, reckless driving to endanger and speeding.

One passenger in the Dodge was taken to a nearby hospital and the other passenger was released. An undisclosed amount of money and drugs were found inside the vehicle, deputies said.

Miller was being held under $20,000 secured bond.
