— Utility crews worked early Tuesday to put a cap on a water main break in Durham that gushed 70 to 80 feet in the air.

The break happened around 2:30 a.m. on Hoover Road near Cheek Road, police said. The break was under control by 7 a.m.

However, the road near the intersection was expected to be closed most of the day while crews worked to make repairs, police said.

There was no word on what caused the break. No homes were affected.
